In the last year many people have lost time to spend in their passion. People have lost time to play games and practice for them. In the pandemic I have lost over 100 hours of time in my main sport, swimming. I swim competitively for BCS or Beach Cities Swimming, and in March, April, May, and June of 2020 we couldn’t swim at all. The pools were closed and we were all on complete lockdown. We had a zoom once a week and that’s it. Before all this happened we were getting 6-7 practices a week plus dryland workouts. Even now a year later we aren’t back to normal, we still only have about 3 practices a week as a team but me and many others swim at other pools by ourselves. It hasn’t been just me who’s lost something during these times, my friends have all had to adapt to new practice times and places. My sports have moved from many different pools and we have started to use 2 different ones. Our sports won’t be the same for sometime, but if we adapt quickly we can still get practice and games out of it. In fact on Friday 3/26/21 I have my first swim meet since 2019. With time all of these ideas will get better and more normal. You just need to make sure you stay with your friends and family to keep you motivated.
