Out of despair loosing my summer Artist Residency in Barcelona, Spain, during lockdown, I FOUND a way to pivot to a new goal.

As an artist I owned and operated Lucinda Art Gallery in Federal Hill, Baltimore for 15 years and realized that blind people do not ever go to art galleries where they can’t see or touch anything. Consequently, losing most of my sight during the last 5 years my artistic goal became to open wider access to the enjoyment of art for blind people. I had 2 successful “Art to Touch and Enjoy” exhibitions in Madrid, Spain, in 2017 and 2018.

Then covid19 struck and my LOSS is a third Artist Residency in Barcelona, Spain, as well as my whole endeavor to create art for touching, as, of course, now, nobody should even think about touching anything.

After surviving a couple of months in despair over these LOSSES in lock-down I FOUND a pivot! One morning I woke up with the idea to pivot from “Joyous Art to Touch” to “Joyous Art for Change.” I FOUND a way to create a whole new body of art.

Below, you can see a series of three images in my new endeavor

1. The first is about Masks “We Are All In This Together” so have patience, hold onto hope and be kind. (Made of fotos of all kinds and all ages of people and a cat…all wearing fabric masks)

2.”Scales of Justice” Crisis and Opportunity for Transformation. In this covid pandemic crisis, we can look for opportunities to make our lives and our world a better place for our future. Albert Einstein once said, “In the midst of difficulty lies opportunity.” In the Chinese language, it takes two symbols written side-by-side to say “disaster”. “Danger” and “Opportunity”

3 “Emerging…” We can strive to emerge from this crisis while looking for opportunities to build a greener and more harmonious world for ourselves and all others. (This is mixed media with dry stalks from spent tiger lilies from my deck, chop sticks and drinking straws with a nice big green leaf..all accented in gold.)
